What is inside
One topic list for both computer tests
The Graduate and Undergraduate NTPC recruitments share a single syllabus for the first and second computer-based tests. CBT-2 simply asks more questions from the same three areas. Below is the list organised by subject so you can tick topics off as you finish them.
Mathematics
- Number system, decimals and fractions, LCM and HCF
- Ratio and proportion, percentage
- Mensuration, geometry and trigonometry
- Time and work, time and distance
- Simple and compound interest, profit and loss
- Elementary algebra and elementary statistics
General Intelligence and Reasoning
Expect analogies, number and letter series, coding and decoding, mathematical operations, similarities and differences, relationships and analytical reasoning. The list also names syllogism, jumbling, Venn diagrams, puzzles, data sufficiency, statement and conclusion, statement and courses of action, decision making, maps and reading graphs.
General Awareness
This is the widest area. It runs from current events of national and international importance, games and sports, Indian art, culture and literature, and monuments, to general and life science up to Class 10 CBSE level. History and the freedom struggle, physical, social and economic geography, polity and governance, science and technology including space and nuclear programmes, and the UN and other world bodies are included. The rest of the list covers environmental issues, computer basics, common abbreviations, transport systems, the Indian economy, famous personalities, flagship government programmes, flora and fauna, and major public sector organisations.
Later stages
| Stage | Who | Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| CBAT | Station Master and Traffic Assistant | T-score of 42 in each battery; the notice refers to the RDSO psycho technical guidelines |
| CBTST | Typist posts | 30 wpm English or 25 wpm Hindi, no editing tools, Kruti Dev or Mangal font |
Turning the list into a plan
Start with mathematics, because the topics are finite and every chapter converts directly into marks. Add one reasoning family per day, and reserve a slot each week for general awareness revision using short notes. Static topics such as polity and geography deserve a first pass early, while current events are better revised close to the exam.
What the attached PDFs are
The eight files are official board documents for CEN 06/2025, from the corrigendum and FAQs to schedule notices, answer key notices and the CBT-1 result with cut-off. They do not hold a longer syllabus than the list above, but they confirm procedures and dates.
Printed notes
For paper-based revision, Competer carries printed railway exam books that follow these subject areas.
