What this series contains
Insights Secure Synopsis is a monthly set of model answers prepared for the daily mains writing challenge run by the Insights IAS platform. This resource gathers eighteen consecutive monthly releases, from December 2017 through May 2019, into one page. Each month answers the questions set during that month, and the answers are grouped by General Studies paper. Most months arrive as four separate PDFs, one each for GS Paper 1, GS Paper 2, GS Paper 3 and GS Paper 4. Three months, March 2018, April 2018 and July 2018, were released as a single combined PDF that carries all four papers together.
The table below shows how the files are organised and how long each one is, so you can pick the month and paper you need without opening everything.

Who should use it
The series suits mains aspirants who want to see how a finished answer is structured: how an introduction is framed, how points are ordered, where a diagram or example is slotted in, and how a conclusion closes the argument. It is also useful for anyone who writes the daily questions first and then compares their own attempt against a reference. Because the files are split by paper, you can concentrate on a weak paper, for instance the ethics case studies in GS 4, without carrying the bulk of the others.
How to work with it
- Write your own answer to a question within the time limit before reading the model one.
- Mark where your points differ, and rewrite the answer in a tighter form.
- Use the smaller GS 4 files for quick weekly practice, and the long GS 2 files for governance and international relations revision.
- Treat the content as a style guide; check any factual claim against a current standard source before using it in an exam.
How it maps to the syllabus
The four papers follow the UPSC mains General Studies structure. GS 1 covers Indian heritage and culture, history, geography and society. GS 2 covers governance, the Constitution, polity, social justice and international relations. GS 3 covers economy, agriculture, science and technology, environment, disaster management and security. GS 4 covers ethics, integrity and aptitude. Since each month follows the questions of that period, the topics reflect the issues of those years, so the set works best as practice material rather than a fixed syllabus text.
Printed material
If you prefer to write beside a printed copy and annotate it by hand, a bound set of answer writing material is easier to carry and revise than a screen. Competer stocks printed mains answer writing and current affairs compilations that can sit alongside these files.
