What the Updated edition means
Vision IAS publishes its PT365 line as subject volumes, such as polity, economy, environment and science. The Updated Current Affairs edition for 2025 is different: it is a single, broad compendium that runs to 238 pages, and this file is its first part. It is a large download at about thirty megabytes, so plan to fetch it on a stable connection.
Reasons to prefer a compendium
A compendium suits the candidate who has fallen behind. Rather than opening a dozen subject volumes, you can read one document in order and get through a wide range of developments. It is also helpful in the last weeks before the exam, when you want a fast pass across the whole year instead of a deep dive into one area.
Planning your reading
| Available time | Suggested approach |
|---|---|
| Two weeks | Read 17 to 18 pages daily and revise on the last day |
| One week | Skim headings, read boxes and summaries, and skip repeated background |
| Two days | Use it only to scan for topics you have not seen before |
Syllabus connection
The Prelims General Studies paper expects awareness of current events of national and international importance, along with how they link to polity, economy, environment and science. When you read, tag each item to one of those headings in the margin. That tagging is more useful than the reading itself because it builds a mental index you can search during the exam.
Tips for a long file
- Set a daily page target and stick to it.
- Pause after each section to recall three key points without looking.
- Keep a separate page for numbers, indices, reports and rankings, since these are frequently asked.
- Supplement it with the subject volumes only for areas where you score poorly in mocks.
What to do with mock results
After each mock test, return to the compendium and look up every current affairs question you missed. Highlight the relevant passage and write the topic on a revision list. In a few weeks the list shows which kinds of events you tend to overlook, and you can then give those areas a second reading.
Part 1 and beyond
Because this is the first part, check whether a second part exists for your exam year before treating your coverage as complete. A printed set of PT365 material from Competer can make a long compilation like this easier to annotate.
